Azure

Microsoft Azure

Best Fit for Microsoft Estates

Microsoft Azure logo

Best for

Recommendation #1 for M365 / AD shops · Azure UAE Region · NESA-aligned

Why it wins

Deepest integration with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, SQL Server and .NET workloads. Azure Hybrid Benefit lets organisations bring on-premises Software Assurance licences to cloud, cutting compute cost by 40 to 70%. Azure UAE North (Dubai) and UAE Central (Abu Dhabi) regions provide in-country data residency. Azure Arc unifies on-premises, edge and multi-cloud under one control plane. Strong NESA, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2 and PDPL alignment with the broadest compliance attestation library in the cloud market.

Consider

Cost can scale unpredictably without disciplined FinOps. Best leverage when the customer is already heavily invested in the Microsoft ecosystem; less differentiated for pure Linux / open-source workloads.

AWS

Amazon Web Services

Widest Service Catalogue · ~29% Market Share

Amazon Web Services logo

Best for

Best Fit for Cloud-Native, SaaS & Fintech

Why it wins

Largest service catalogue and the most mature cloud platform globally. If a particular cloud capability exists anywhere, it almost certainly exists on AWS first. AWS Middle East (Bahrain) and AWS Middle East (UAE) regions provide regional data residency. Strong fit for cloud-native applications, SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, AI/ML workloads, and customers who value service breadth over ecosystem alignment. EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFront, IAM, GuardDuty and AWS Backup form the core platform.

Consider

Steeper learning curve than Azure for Windows-heavy estates. Egress charges can be punitive for high-data-transfer workloads. Best handled with a dedicated cloud team or a managed services partner.

GCP

Google Cloud Platform

Best Fit for AI, Data & Kubernetes

Google Cloud Platform logo

Best for

Best for Analytics-Heavy & AI-Native Workloads

Why it wins

Strongest position in AI / ML, data analytics and Kubernetes. Google invented Kubernetes; GKE is the most mature managed Kubernetes platform on the market. BigQuery is the leading managed analytics warehouse. Vertex AI bundles end-to-end MLOps. Best fit for data-driven businesses, AI-native startups, Kubernetes-first architectures and analytics-heavy workloads. Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, GKE, Cloud Run and Cloud Armor cover the foundational platform.

Consider

Smaller MENA presence than Azure or AWS. No native UAE region (closest are Dammam and Doha). Best for workloads where the analytics or AI advantage outweighs the regional latency and procurement complexity.

OCI

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Best Fit for Oracle DB & ERP Workloads

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure logo

Best for

Strongest Economics for Oracle Database Estates

Why it wins

Purpose-built for Oracle Database, E-Business Suite, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft and Fusion Cloud Applications. Oracle's Bring Your Own License (BYOL) economics often deliver 30 to 50% lower total cost than running Oracle workloads on AWS or Azure. OCI UAE (Abu Dhabi) and Dubai regions provide regional data residency. Strong fit for organisations standardised on Oracle, particularly in banking, telecom and government in the GCC.

Consider

Smaller third-party tooling ecosystem than the top three hyperscalers. Best leveraged where Oracle workloads are the dominant driver; less compelling for greenfield non-Oracle environments.

Public Cloud Advantages

Eight reasons public cloud wins most workload comparisons

Beyond elastic capacity: the structural advantages public cloud delivers over fixed on-premises hardware.

Elastic Capacity

Scale up for seasonal demand, scale down between peaks. No more over-provisioning hardware for the worst-case day.

OpEx, Not CapEx

Convert AED 150,000 to 400,000+ refresh-cycle CapEx into predictable monthly OpEx tied to actual usage.

Global Reach, Local Region

Azure UAE North/Central, AWS Middle East UAE / Bahrain and OCI UAE deliver in-country data residency without global latency penalties.

Built-in Resilience

Multi-AZ deployment, automated failover and provider-managed redundancy that would cost millions to replicate on-premises.

Continuous Service Updates

New cloud capabilities ship monthly, not on a 5-year hardware refresh cycle. Your platform improves while you sleep.

Native Security Stack

Defender for Cloud, AWS GuardDuty, Google Security Command Center, Oracle Cloud Guard and full CSPM/CNAPP integration baked into the platform.

Compliance Acceleration

Pre-built compliance attestations for NESA, ADHICS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PDPL cut audit-prep effort by 60 to 80%.

Pay-as-You-Go Innovation

Spin up a Kubernetes cluster, an AI training environment or a global CDN in minutes. Test, iterate, kill what doesn't work, with no committed CapEx.

UAE Compliance

NESA, NCA ECC, ADHICS, SAMA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001 and PDPL aligned

We design every public cloud landing zone with UAE compliance as a baseline, not as a retrofit. Azure UAE North + UAE Central, AWS Middle East UAE, and OCI UAE deliver in-country data residency. Encryption with customer-managed keys, identity hardening, network segmentation, audit logging and immutable backup are non-negotiable defaults. Pre-built compliance evidence cuts NESA and ADHICS audit-prep effort by 60 to 80%.

FAQ

Public cloud questions UAE buyers ask

The questions we hear most often from UAE businesses evaluating public cloud.

It depends on your existing estate. Microsoft 365 / Active Directory / Windows-heavy organisations get the best economics on Microsoft Azure with Azure Hybrid Benefit. Cloud-native, SaaS and fintech workloads usually fit AWS best. Oracle Database and ERP workloads are most cost-effective on OCI thanks to BYOL pricing. AI, data and Kubernetes-first organisations often pick GCP. We assess workload-by-workload, not vendor-by-vendor.

Yes for Azure (UAE North in Dubai and UAE Central in Abu Dhabi), AWS (UAE region launched 2024 plus Bahrain), and OCI (UAE region in Abu Dhabi and Dubai). GCP's closest regions are Dammam and Doha. For sovereign workloads, G42 Cloud is also available. Data residency is a hard requirement under NESA Level 3+, ADHICS and many sectoral regulators (CBUAE, IA, TDRA), so the region question is usually answered by compliance, not preference.

No. We are intentionally vendor-agnostic and hold partnerships with Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud and Oracle. We design landing zones using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation) so workloads stay portable. Many of our customers run two or three clouds for different workloads, and we manage all of them under one operating model.

Cloud is usually cheaper for variable, seasonal or growth workloads, and for organisations that would otherwise commit AED 150,000 to 400,000+ per refresh cycle on hardware, racks, UPS, cooling and licensing. On-premises remains cheaper for very stable, high-utilisation workloads where depreciated hardware is fully amortised. We model both in the assessment phase so the decision is based on numbers, not assumption.

All four major hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI) carry the relevant compliance attestations and shared-responsibility documentation. Compliance is a function of how you configure the cloud, not just the cloud provider. We design landing zones with NESA / NCA ECC / ADHICS / PCI-DSS / PDPL controls baked in: encryption with customer-managed keys, identity hardening, network segmentation, audit logging and immutable backup as defaults.

Assessment and planning is typically 4 to 8 weeks. Migration of a 10 to 30-server environment in phased waves runs 8 to 16 weeks. Larger estates (100+ workloads) run 16 to 40 weeks. Optimisation and FinOps continue indefinitely. We deliver in waves so you see early value, not a big-bang cutover.

Yes. Most customers stay on a managed cloud services agreement after migration. We handle 24/7 monitoring, patching, security operations, cost optimisation, capacity planning and incident response across all clouds in scope. Managed services is what protects the migration investment over the next three to five years.

Yes. We routinely deliver multi-cloud (Azure + AWS, AWS + GCP, etc.) and hybrid architectures (on-premises VMware or Nutanix + Azure / AWS for DR or burst). Azure Arc, AWS Outposts, Google Anthos and our own management plane unify operations across the estate. We have a dedicated [Hybrid Cloud](/cloud-solutions/hybrid-cloud) page covering this in depth.
